Ralph Schultz
Born July 5, 1935 Died April 28, 2001
Ralph Schultz was born in Sacramento on July 5, 1935 to Arnold and Esther Schultz, the fourth of four boys. He died Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Sacred Heart Medical Center at the age of 65. He was baptized July 21, 1935. He is preceeded in death by his parents Arnold and Esther and brother Robert.
Ralph's greatest joys came from serving his Lord, being with family and friends, participating in music, traveling, and in his later years, gardening and enjoying his pet cats. He sang with Project Joy's Senior Serenaders and Grandpa Sound.
Ralph graduated from Sacramento High School, Sacramento, CA in 1953. He graduated from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio in 1957. Ralph married Carol Scudder June 30, 1957 at St Lukes Lutheran Church, Sacramento. He graduated from Capital Seminary, Columbus, Ohio in 1961. Ralph was ordained on June 25, 1961 at St Lukes Lutheran Church, Sacramento.
For 40 years, Ralph served as pastor at the following churches: Trinity Lutheran, Bonners Ferry ID; Ours Saviors Lutheran, Caruthers CA; Good Shepherd Lutheran, Sacramento CA; Emmanuel Lutheran, Spokane WA; Gideon Lutheran, Connell WA; and was serving as Visitation Pastor at St Marks, Spokane WA at the time of his death. At St Marks, Ralph lead the Grand Old Men's group and was a friend to all he visited.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Carol, sons Timothy and Michael, Michael's partner Jeff Buckner; grandson David; brother Richard and his wife Claire, nieces Katherine and Marta, nephew Kurt; brother Raymond and his wife Marian, nieces Karen, Kristen, nephew David; grandnieces Amy, Kaley; grandnephew Adam; sister-in-laws Barbara Scudder, Marge Lucy; and godchildren: Timothy Collins, Lora Lynn Truckenbrod, Rebecca and Jeff Pauling, Randall Ross, Karen (Schultz) Ruppert, and Dorrie Vu.
Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations may be made to St Marks Lutheran Church and/or PFLAG.
